11/16/15 Toxic algae may halt Oregon Dungeness crab season

Authorities in Oregon have shut down recreational crab harvesting on half of the Oregon coast after finding high toxin levels. It also closed commercial crabbing in bays in that area. This could delay the Oregon commercial crab fishery that is supposed to open on December 1st. Oregon's season may be delayed indefinitely as has the season in California.

Chilean crab meat is the prefect answer to this problem for restaurants and retail. To place an order or for product information call 425-835-0312 or send us an email.

The closure is from Heceta Head to the California border. It includes crab harvested in the bays and estuaries, and off docks, piers and jetties.
